Suites & housing costs
Abby Road Housing Co-operative offers 49 homes designed for people of all abilities — a mix of adapted and standard suites in the heart of Edmonton’s Garneau neighbourhood.
Our homes are bright, affordable, and part of a vibrant, inclusive community where members share responsibility for keeping our co-op strong.
We are always accepting membership applications for both adapted and non-adapted suites.
COMMUNITY LIVING
About our suites
Abby Road includes a variety of suite layouts for individuals, couples, and families. All homes are part of the same community — there are no separate areas for adapted or standard units.
Our suites are well-maintained, and members work together to ensure the co-op remains a safe, welcoming, and well-cared-for place to live.
| Suite Type | Accessibility | Description |
|---|---|---|
| Adapted Units (23) | Wheelchair-accessible | Include lower counters, widened hallways and doorways, roll-in showers, and lowered switches. |
| Standard Units (26) | Non-adapted | Ideal for members who do not require mobility accommodations but share the co-op’s community values. |

PROCESS
Availability and waitlist
Membership applications are accepted year-round.
Because Abby Road is a member governed co-operative (not a rental property), there is no “first-come, first-served” system.
Applicants who are approved for membership are added to our waiting list, which typically spans six months to two years, depending on unit availability and the needs of the co-op.
You may contact us every six months to renew or extend your waiting list status.
Subsidized units
Approximately 39% of our homes are subsidized under the FCHI-2 and CMHC programs.
These units are offered to eligible members as they become available.
If you are interested in learning more about our rental assistance options program and eligibility requirements, please visit our Subsidy Information page.
Member responsibilities
All Abby Road members — whether living in a standard or adapted unit — are expected to:
Pay monthly housing charges promptly
Care for their home and shared spaces responsibly
Participate in meetings and volunteer activities that sustain the co-op
Our success depends on everyone contributing their time, skills, and positive spirit.
