On-site support for members who need it.
Abby Road Support Services (ARSS) provides 24-hour, self-directed assistance for co-op members with physical disabilities who require help with daily living.
ARSS is a program of Abby Road Housing Co-operative, operated under contract with Alberta Health Services, and is available only to residents of the co-op.
We are not an 'assisted living' or 'medical' facility. We are an integrated independent living cooperative community that is able to provide an on-site support services program available to those who qualify as per AHS guidelines and per their authorization.
SELF-DIRECTED CARE
Our approach
Support Services is built on the principle of self-directed care — members lead the way in determining how and when support is provided.
Our trained Health Care Aides, supported by a Licensed Practical Nurse, deliver professional, respectful, and individualized care that promotes independence and dignity.
Our Services Include
Personal care (bathing, dressing, toileting)
Homemaking (laundry, cleaning, meal prep and/or buld cooking)
Lifts and transfers
Range-of-motion and exercise support
Overnight assistance
Things we do not help with:
Intense medical care
Palliative or end of life care
Companionship services
Off site pet care or pet care while you are away
Post-hospitalization care arrangements
Child Care
Community engagement or recreational activities
Who qualifies for support
Support Services are available exclusively to:
Residents of Abby Road Housing Co-op, and
Members who are able to direct their own care
This ensures that individuals maintain autonomy while receiving the assistance they need to live independently.
Those who would like to access our Support Services will be required to go through a full assessment provided by Alberta Health Services, who will determine your eligibility for our program. Upon AHS authorization you will become a user of our Program.
Our commitment to quality
Abby Road Support Services is CARF accredited and works closely with Alberta Health Services to maintain high standards of safety, professionalism, and person-centered care.
We invest in continuous staff training, health and safety initiatives, and community collaboration to ensure the best possible outcomes for our members.
